Founder Cesar Diaz began selling California auto insurance policies from multiple brick-and-mortar locations in the 1990s. In 2005, his development of OnlineAutoInsurance.com gave consumers an auto insurance comparison tool with the ability to purchase a policy online.
In 2010, the popularity of online quote comparisons grew, and, as a result of user demand, Online Auto Insurance began offering rates from even more carriers on a national level. Today, we provide millions of visitors each year the ability to compare quotes online from a large variety of carriers.

A decade-long fire and casualty broker, Cesar Diaz applied his experience to launch OnlineAutoInsurance.com in 2005 to bring free, fast, and unbiased auto insurance quote comparisons to consumers online. These sites help save people the hassle of getting quotes individually. Focusing on user experience, he aims to provide a valuable service and establish a reputable brand.
Diaz’s ability to think outside the box has led to the development of multiple profitable companies with a history of vertical growth as well as the establishment of several brick-and-mortar insurance sales offices in Southern California, which remain in operation today and hold a large book of business.
Diaz currently oversees strategies and operations for TZ Insurance Solutions, LLC. He is also a private pilot.
Benjamin Zitney began working for OnlineAutoInsurance.com in 2010 as the first writer for our news division. He is currently the chief editor, editing all content published by Online Auto Insurance and assembling studies that show how state laws, regulations, and insurer practices affect the average consumer.
Benjamin graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism in 2009 from Cal State Long Beach, where he worked for three years at the campus news publication, the Daily Forty-Niner, as a copy editor, news editor, and reporter. At the Forty-Niner, he focused on reporting on economic trends and chronicling the turbulent relationship between the California Legislature and the California State University System.
As an intern at the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority, he researched 30 years’ worth of agency documents and records and interviewed past and present employees in order to construct an extensive company history of the 30-year-old municipal insurance entity.
John Pirro started working for OnlineAutoInsurance.com in 2009, writing content and helping to develop the site as a quality knowledge base for consumers. In 2010, John assumed the role of content manager, which included training new content writers, assigning tasks and topics, managing on-site SEO factors, and overseeing production.
John is a licensed property and casualty insurance agent that has broad knowledge of the auto insurance industry, spanning from state regulation to the particulars of the vehicle repair process. John has firsthand experience dealing with both policyholders and insurers in the repair process after working for a collision repair facility for two years. There, he worked with both policyholders and insurers to ensure that quality repairs were made and that the relationship between customers and carriers was not compromised.
Charles Nguyen became the newest addition to the team when he started writing for the news division in early 2012. Charles is a writer who has been up and down California covering crime, cops, courts, and government with his dog Woody.
His reporting days began at UCSD, where he worked at the campus publication the Guardian and moved his way up from reporter to editor in chief. He wrote as much as he could for the twice-weekly newspaper, from a news series covering an on-campus pornography scandal to reviews of pop music and Denzel Washington films.
His post-college clippings brought him from Barstow to the Oakland area—and now back to San Bernardino County with Online Auto Insurance News. He also spent a year at the San Diego District Attorney’s Office as part of the Americorps VISTA program, aiding in re-entry and outreach efforts for felons and underprivileged youth.
Virginia Larez is a licensed personal lines auto insurance agent with extensive insurance knowledge ranging from sales and customer service to underwriting and management.
In 2009, Virginia brought her experience to Online Auto Insurance, working as an administrative assistant before assuming responsibility for Google Analytics monitoring, strategy development, and link-building delegation. Virginia also assists in clerical administration and facilities maintenance.
She has worked as a customer service representative for a medium-sized auto insurance brokerage, an auto insurance application underwriter/premium handler, and an auto insurance sales manager.
Carlos came to Online Auto Insurance in 2011 as a seasoned marketer with more than 15 years' experience serving organizations in the real estate, publishing, and financial services industries.
Carlos graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in marketing and applied his knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit to helping associations and membership-based organizations communicate with their customers through new media technologies. He developed strategies and executed campaigns that successfully built stronger relationships with a diverse group of consumers ranging from first-time home buyers to passionate pet owners.
Before joining TZ Insurance Solutions, LLC, Carlos launched several online communities and consulted small businesses and individuals on their website development, social media, and search marketing needs. He is enthusiastic about helping the company grow its social media presence and relationships.
